James Maury to W[illia]m Fontaine, and M.L. Fontaine to John B. Fontaine [manuscript], 1807, 1850.

This collection consists of two letters. The first, December 27, 1807, is from James Maury, U.S. consul in Liverpool, England, to William Fontaine in Richmond, Virginia, and discusses personal topics, including a possible translation of Jacques Fontaine's memoirs, and makes reference to the 'Chesapeake-Leopard' Affair and the British Orders In Council, passed in response to the Embargo Act. The second letter, May 3, 1850, is from M.L. Fontaine, Beaverdam, Virginia, to her son John B. Fontaine in Richmond, regarding family matters.
